The metro made this a normal thing to do
Doha Metro changed first meetings more than anything else in the last decade. Msheireb, Souq Waqif, West Bay and Education City are all a few stops apart, so a meeting between someone living in Al Wakrah and someone in Lusail is an ordinary evening rather than a project.
It matters because a first meeting that costs two hours of travel tends not to happen a second time. In Qatar it costs twenty minutes, so the second one happens.

Here or Kerala — decide it early
The Gulf question arrives in every serious conversation eventually: are you staying, or are you going back. In Qatar it tends to arrive sooner, because contracts and school years make the timeline concrete.
