Outside the capital, Sohar and Salalah both have real Malayali communities and very little else nearby. If that is you, widen the distance setting well past your own city — long-distance starts are ordinary in this country.
The one clock that matters
Oman keeps the same time as the UAE, which puts Kerala only an hour and a half ahead — the smallest gap of any Gulf country. A call after work lands comfortably on both sides, which is one less thing in the way.

Convenient for anyone working in the ministries or the business district, and short by design.

Familiar food and a normal reason to be there — though Ruwi is also where you are most likely to be recognised.
Al Ansab or the Salalah Corniche
For anyone outside the capital. Quiet, public, and worth the drive if the conversation has earned it.
